Quincy, Ill. - The Missouri Southern Men's Basketball team traveled to Quincy, Ill. to take on the Hawks of Quincy University. Despite a double-digit lead in the first half, a comeback in the final minutes would edge out a victory for the Hawks, 71-68.

Both teams traded baskets to open the first half as the score was tied at 9-9 with 15:31 remaining. The Hawks then began to build a lead as a 14-6 run gave them a 23-15 advantage just over halfway through the first half.Â
The Lions began to find a rhythm late in the half as multiple Lions contributed to a 13-0 run to take a 33-26 lead with 3:47 until halftime. It was another tight battle to the buzzer, but
Martin Macenis would lead the way in the first half with 11 points as the Lions led 41-32.

Half 2: Missouri Southern 68 | Quincy University 71
Jaden Taylor would begin the second half with a floater to give him 10 points on the day. The Lions would increase their lead to double-digits with 13:54 remaining in the game as they led 52-42.Â
The Hawks would cut into the Lions lead late in the second half, narrowing their deficit to two points (60-58) off a 6-0 run with 4:05 remaining in the game.
Jaden Taylor would knock down a layup to end the Hawks' run, but Quincy would respond to gain their first lead since 6:30 in the first half (66-64) off another 6-0 run with only 1:54 remaining. Despite the Lions best efforts, the Hawks would complete the comeback and win 71-68.
