Topeka, Kan. – The Missouri Southern football team traveled to take on the Washburn University Ichabod. The Lions were defeated by the Ichabod, 42-21 and moved to 1-7 on the season and 0-6 in the MIAA.

Quarter 1: Missouri Southern 0 | Washburn 21
The Ichabods were able to get on the board first to take the early lead. The Lions would see
Michell Cory for a 49-yard punt, landing at the Washburn 9-yard line. Victor Chionuma would have seven carries in the first quarter with a 40-yard run.
Quarter 2: Missouri Southern 7 | Washburn 7
The Lions defense came out hot and turned the tides, Deiago Oliver intercepted an Ichabods pass to give Missouri Southern's offense back on the field. The following drive would end in a Luke Sampson rushing touchdown, cutting the deficit to 21-7. The extra point by Drake Reese was good.
Connor Searcy forced a fumble, and Holt Chappell would recover and put the ball back in the Missouri Southern offense. Heading into the halftime, the Ichabods lead the Lions 28-7.
Quarter 3: Missouri Southern 7 | Washburn 14
Coming out of the half, the Lions showed resilience. Luke Sampson connected with Trace Willhite for a 20-yard touchdown pass, capping a 7-play, 75-yard drive. The extra point by Drake Reese brought Missouri Southern to within 14 points (28-14).
The Ichabods would answer pushing the score to 42-14 by the end of the third quarter.
Quarter 4: Missouri Southern 7 | Washburn 0
Missouri Southern closed out the game with a strong 17-play, 94-yard drive in the fourth quarter, culminating in a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Victor Chionuma. The Lions dominated time of possession in the quarter and held the Ichabods to just 5:27. But Washburn held their lead to take the victory.
