Edmond, Okla. - In their second match of the weekend, the Lions took on the #20 nationally ranked Bronchos of Central Oklahoma at their house. Missouri Southern fell to Central Oklahoma 3-1, moving to 10-5 (3-3 MIAA) on the season.
An exciting back and forth first set that took extra points ended in favor of Southern, 29-27. The teams fought hard in the second set, but UCO evened the score at 1-1 with a 25-21 victory. Using that momentum, the Bronchos won the third set 25-13, and went on to take the match with a 25-17 fourth set score.Â
Fernanda Canedo led the team with 12 kills, and
Hannah Allick finished with another double-double at 35 assists and 15 digs.
Laci Ownbey recorded a .333 attack percentage, finishing with 11 kills in the match.Â
The team will play a mid-week contest on the road before returning home. That contest will be in Warrensburg, Missouri as the Lions play the Central Missouri Jennies on Tuesday, October 3 at 6:00 PM.Â
