Edmond, Okla. - Continuing their opening weekend play, the Missouri Southern soccer team was in action Saturday afternoon. The hosts of Oklahoma Christian took the match 4-0, putting MSSU at 0-2-0 (0-0-0 MIAA) to start the year.
The first shot of the game came from Missouri Southern, courtesy of
Cathy Ray. Her shot was on goal, but the Eagle goalkeeper was there for the save. Midway through the first,
Maya Greenquist got off a couple of shots, but both were blocked. Both teams were scoreless at the end of the first.
Southern got another shot on goal at the 66:36 mark thanks to
Jori Hays, but she couldn't find the back of the net.
Cathy Ray had another couple shots before the end of the game, but Oklahoma Christian ultimately took the match 4-0.
Lilly Doneghue had 3 saves on the day.
The Lions will play in their home opener for their next competition, playing host to the Truman State Bulldogs on Friday, September 8 at 6:00 PM.
