Joplin, Mo. - The MSSU Women's Soccer team hosted its first matchup in Fred G. Hughes Stadium against the Bulldogs of Truman State on Friday, September 8th, which resulted in 1-1 draw.
Aisley Stevens was the first to get a shot on goal about six minutes into the match, but was saved by Truman.
After Truman scored a goal about 9 minutes into the first half, the Lions returned two shots on goal that were both saved, bringing the score to 1-0 Truman after the first half of play.
Jori Hays started the second half with a beautiful 24-yard goal off the assist of
Lariah Boone to tie the match up at 1-1 with 32 minutes left to play.
The Lions continued to put on the pressure as
Emma Leet and
Aisley Stevens both put a shot on goal, but ultimately both were saved by the Bulldog defense ending the game at a tied score of 1-1.
The Women's Soccer team advances to 0-2-1 (0-0-0 MIAA) on the season and will face Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri on Sunday, September 10th at 12:00 pm.
