Denton, Tex. - The Missouri Southern soccer team kicked off their season Thursday evening, playing Texas Woman's University on the road. The Pioneers came home with the win 2-1, dropping the Lions to 0-1-0 (0-0-0 MIAA) to start the year.
Jori Hays had the first shot on goal of the match at the 10:03 mark, but the TWU goalkeeper was there for the save. Midway through the first half, the Pioneers found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.

Maya Greenquist for Southern's first goal of the year, knotting things at 1-1.
Cathy Ray put one on goal in the 78th minute, but the Pioneer goalie made the stop. TWU scored late in the game, sealing a 2-1 victory.
