Joplin, Mo. - The fourth ranked Missouri Southern baseball program began the conference series against No. 18 Central Missouri on Thursday Apr. 6th from Warren Turner Field with a 8-5 defeat in a cool and slightly breeze night game.
The Lions (28-9, 16-5 MIAA) got a three run homer from
Will Doherty his fifth of the season, a 3-for-4 hitting day with an RBI from
Ethan Clark and
Henry Kusiak also picked up an RBI.Â
In the first inning Central Missouri (26-9, 17-4 MIAA) got four runs before adding a run in the second and two in the third for an early 7-0 lead. Husiak collected his 138th career RBI scoring
Chayton Beck and a Clark single through the left side scored
Nate Mieszkowski to make it a 7-2 game after three complete inning. Doherty would get the scoring started again with a three run homer over the left field fencing scoring Clark and Kusiak to make it a 7-5 game before UCM scored in the top of the sixth for the final 8-5 scoreline.Â
