Men Win Mule Relays, Women Finish 2nd

Warrensburg, Mo. - The nationally ranked Missouri Southern outdoor track and field programs competed at the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri on Friday Apr. 14th at Walton Stadium. 

Overall Southern had two school records broken, nine event wins, 14 personal records and 18 NCAA Qualifying marks. The men won the meet with 184.50 points and the women finished second with 111.33 points. 

Hurdles
  • Kiara Smith won the women's 100m event with the best time in Division II this season at 13.34 seconds to set a new program record in the event with her NCAA Qualifying time. Cornesia Calhoun-White finished second with a time of 14.30 and Mya Ferguson finished sixth with a time of 15.18.
  • Malachi Pipkin won the men's 110m event with a program record time and NCAA Qualifying time of 14.18 seconds in the semifinals and won the finals in a time of 14.23. Maksym Andurukhiv finished second in the final race with an NCAA Qualifying time of 14.32 and JaDarius Pigg finished fourth in the finals with a time of 14.74 after having an NCAA Qualifying time of 14.46 in the semifinals. 
  • LaNea Wallace won the women's 400m event with an NCAA Qualifying time of 1:01.70 
  • Pigg finished second in the men's 400m event with a time of 55.50 seconds and Siebert Simon finished third with a time of 55.76.


Triple Jump


Long Jump

  • Jon Watts won the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 7.63m, McBride finished seventh with a mark of 6.69m, Jackson finished eighth with a mark of 6.67m and Landon Semrad finished 21st with a mark of 5.89m.
  • Lillian Hart finished the women's event with a mark of 4.65m.


800m Run


Javelin

  • Rajheim Carby won the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 66.67m.

Shot Put
  • Samariae Bonds won the women's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 15.54m.
  • Cedric Pearson finished second in the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 18.05m. 

Hammer Throw
  • Bonds finished second in the women's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 56.72m and Mallory Huber finished third with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 52.69m.
  • Peyton Barton finished third in the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 65.27m and Connor Boyd finished fourth with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 63.32m.


Pole Vault

  • Holly Robinson finished second in the women's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 3.97m, Abby Hobbs finished third with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 3.82m, Katie Candrl finished fourth with a mark of 3.67m, Mackenzie Moring finished fifth with a mark of 3.67m, Emma Hobbs finished 12th with a mark of 2.77m.
  • Bryan Candrl finished fifth in the men's event with a mark of 4.53m.


Discus

  • Barton finished second in the men's event with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 53.40m, Pearson finished third with an NCAA Qualifying mark of 51.29m and Boyd finished 11th with a mark of 46.45m.
  • Huber finished 13th in the event with a mark of 37.67m.


1500m Run

  • Lilah Genel finished second in the women's event with a time of 4:48.25 and Shelby Kihega finished 10th with a time of 5:00.13.
  • Geordan Patrylak finished 21st in the men's event with a time of 4:07.73.


Relays

  • The men's 4x100m relay of Candrl, Pipkin, Andurukhiv and Elliot Rule finished second with a time of 41.94 seconds. 
  • The men's 4x400m relay teams A and B finished third and fourth in the event. Team B was third with a time of 3:17.33 and Team A finishing with a time of 3:17.38.


200m Dash

  • Pipkin finished second in the men's event with a time of 21.65 seconds and Andurukhiv finished 26th with a time of 22.89.

High Jump
  • Luke Brumit finished second in the men's event with a mark of 2.01m.

5000m Run
3000m Steeplchase
  • Jaden Deaton finished second in the men's event with a time of 9:40.64.
  • Kayanna Gaines finished fourth in the women's event with a time of 11:39.03 and Alana Bundy finished seventh with a time of 12:36.00.


400m Dash


Up next for the Lions will be John McDonnell Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas beginning on Thursday Apr. 20th at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.
