Joplin, Mo. - The fourth ranked Missouri Southern baseball program beat Southwestern Oklahoma State 16-11 in a midweek game Wednesday Mar. 29th at Warren Turner Field.
The Lions (25-7) were led by
Treghan Parker going 2-for-3 with two home runs for five RBIs and scored four runs,
Garrett Rice and
Matt Miller also homered.
Laif Hultine got the win with three shutout innings of relief and four strikeouts,
Cale McCallister,
Jacob Davis and
Kaydon Patrick had strikeouts today.
Scoring for both teams didn't begin until the second inning as SWOSU (15-16) scored seven in the top half and a
Chayton Beck to left center scoring Parker and
Drew Davis, giving the Bulldogs an early 7-2 lead. SWOSU scored a run in the third and fourth inning as the Lions responded with four runs in the bottom half of the fourth to make it a 9-6 deficit.
Miller got the scoring started in the fifth inning with his 12th homer of the season and a Parker two run shot over right field tied it up 9-9. The Lions would take the lead off a wild pitch with Rice scoring from third and a Parker three run homer to right field made it a 13-9 lead.
Southern would score again in the eighth inning with
Nate Mieszkowski and
Ethan Clark picking up an RBI each as the Lions cruised to a 16-11 final score.
Up next for the Lions will be a three day road series with Fort Hays State beginning on Friday Mar. 31st at 1:00pm from Larks Park. Game times for Saturday Apr. 1st and Sunday Apr. 2nd are both set for a 1:00pm first pitch.
