Lions To Battle RiverHawks & No. 2 Hillcats

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern softball program will host Northeastern State and defending national champions Rogers State this weekend in MIAA double headers at the Pat Lipira Softball Complex.

Game times are set for 1/3:00pm on Saturday against Northeastern State and 12/2:00pm against Rogers State on Sunday.

The Lions (18-7, 3-1 MIAA) as a team ranks 17th in home runs per game at 1.12 and walks drawn with 103, 21st in on-base percentage at .418, 23rd in home runs with 28, 24th in double plays turned with 10, 29th in double plays turned per game at 0.40, 31st in scoring per game at 6.48, 32nd in slugging percentage at .502 and 39th in runs scored with 162.

Individually the Lions are led by Leighton Withers with a .453 average, 18 runs scored, 34 hits, five doubles, nine home runs and 32 RBIs while slugging .907 with a .571 on-base percentage for a 1.478 OPS. Yazmin Vargas is hitting .500 with 22 runs scored, 27 hits, 15 stolen bases while slugging .611 with a .578 on-base percentage for a 1.189 OPS. Emily Perry is hitting .356 with 20 runs scored, 26 hits, six doubles and two home runs for 12 RBIs. Josie Tofpi is hitting .313 with 16 runs scored, 21 hits, three doubles and four home runs for 13 RBIs. Ashlynn Williams is hitting .291 with 15 runs scored, 23 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and 15 RBIs. 

In the circle Avery Tallman is 11-2 with a 1.92 ERA and five complete games from 15 appearances for 69.1 innings with 41 strikeouts and opponents hitting .242. Bailey Lacy is 3-0 with a 3.41 ERA from 14 appearances for 37.0 innings with 34 strikeouts and opponents hitting .272. Natalie Bates is 3-3 from 11 appearances for 39.0 innings with 42 strikeouts. Amos has made 11 appearances in the circle for 22.0 innings with 20 strikeouts while opponents hit .291 against her.

Northeastern State (18-9, 0-2 MIAA) as a team averages 8.5 hits, 6.4 runs and 1.6 home runs per game. Savannah Evans is hitting .425 with 20 runs scored, 31 hits, five doubles, eight home runs and 24 RBIs while slugging .849 with a .468 on-base percentage. Chloe Bohuslavicky is hitting .337 with 23 runs scored, 29 hits and a conference leading 14 home runs with 31 RBIs to slug .826. Emily Sampson is hitting .400 with 12 runs scored and 22 hits, Jaeden Rosenquist is hitting .353 with 21 runs scored, 30 hits and six doubles, Addy Wolfe is hitting .313 with 18 runs scored, 26 hits, six doubles and six home runs for 20 RBIs.

In the circle the RiverHawks as a team have a 2.74 ERA with opponents hitting .254 and striking out 4.4 batters a game. #2 Rogers State (23-2, 2-0 MIAA) as a team averages 7.9 hits and 6.2 runs per game. Bridgett Morales is hitting .382 with 13 runs scored, 26 hits, five doubles, two home runs and 17 RBIs. Callie Yellin is hitting .378 with 14 runs scored, 17 hits, four doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs. Abbey Rogers is hitting .345 with six runs scored, 20 hits, two home runs and 16 RBIs. Jaylan Gibson is hitting .333 with 11 runs scored, 22 hits, five doubles, four home runs and 19 RBIs. Paxton Donaldson is hitting .327 with 17 runs scored, 18 hits, seven doubles and five RBIs. Nicole Price is hitting .308 with 15 runs scored and 20 hits ad MaKayla Jackson is hitting .308 with 12 hits, four doubles and three home runs. Marissa Smith is hitting .291 with 14 runs scored, 16 hits, four doubles and four home runs with 14 RBIs.
