Men End Season In MIAA Quarterfinals

Kansas City, Mo. - The Missouri Southern men's basketball team concluded the season in the MIAA Quarterfinals against No. 12 Central Oklahoma on Thursday at historic Municipal Auditorium.

The Lions (17-12, 12-10 MIAA) were led by Avery Taggart with a career-high tying 26 points shooting 4-for-9 from three. Christian Bundy had 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in his final collegiate game. Vinson Sigmon Jr. had nine points and three assists and leading from the bench was Ndongo Ndaw in his final collegiate game with eight points and four rebounds.

Central Oklahoma (25-4,18-4 MIAA) was led by Cam Givens with 21 points and nine rebounds. 

Southern would get the first points of the game with a Taggart three from a Sam Thompson kickout pass and after an early UCO run would get it to within three (13-10) with 11:47 left following a Bundy second chance layup. The Lions would made it a one possession game three times in the last three minutes of the half and following a Bundy buzzer beating three headed into the intermission down 33-30.

In the first half the Lions were led by Taggart with 14 points as Christian Bundy had seven points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal to fill out the stat sheet.

Thompson would get the Lions into a tie, 36-36 with UCO with 16:47 left in the second half but the Bronchos wouldn't surrender the lead over going on an 8-3 run for the 45-39 lead with 14:04 left. Southern would get to within three, 45-42 following a rare trio of free throws made by Sigmon Jr . with 13:35 remaining but couldn't make up the difference the rest of the way falling 76-60.

For his career in the Green and Gold, Bundy played in 129 games with 944 points, 577 rebounds, 76 steals and 69 blocks in a career that spanned six years. Ndaw a transfer from Indiana State appeared in 51 games with 233 points, 264 rebounds, 54 blocks and 20 steals in a career that spanned two years for the Green and Gold. We wish both senior the best in their future endeavors and congratulate them on successful careers.
