Kansas City, Mo. - Missouri Southern softball infielder Leighton Withers was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week that was announced by the league office today. 

Withers was dominate this past weekend slashed .471/1.000/.571 for a 1.571 OPS with two home runs, 10 RBIs off eight hits and scored four runs while helping the Lions to a 4-1 start to the season. Against her former team, Ouachita Baptist went 3-for-4 with two home runs that included a grand slam, six RBIs and three runs scored with her RBI tally tied for the third best amount in a single-game in school history. Against Henderson State on Saturday went 3-for-3 with two RBIs while coming away with a double and triple against the Reddies.

The Lions will be back in action this week with a trip to Bentonville to take part in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic from Feb. 10th - 12th.
