Wichita, Kan. - In their final regular season road contest, the Lions defeated the Newman Jets in straight sets, claiming their 14th match of the year. The team's 14 wins this year is the most in program history dating back to the 2010 season.
The Lions got off to a hot start, going on a 9-1 run to begin the match. Riding that momentum, MSSU won the first set 25-16. The second set was tighter throughout, but Southern eventually took the reins for a 25-18 victory. Finally, the Lions won the third set 25-16 to take the match with a 3-0 clean sweep.
