Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern volleyball team began their final stretch of regular season play Thursday evening, hosting the Fort Hays State Tigers. For the second time this year, the Lions defeated the Tigers, advancing to 15-13 (8-11 MIAA) on the year. With the 3-0 sweep, MSSU punches their ticket to the MIAA tournament, but seeding will be decided following the conclusion of the regular season later this weekend.
The first three points of the match were won by the Lions. After back and forth play, MSSU went on a five point run that gave them the momentum to take the set 25-18. Set two featured solid stretches by both teams, but the Lions edged the Tigers 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead. The third set ended with a strong statement by MSSU, taking the final seven points for a 25-16 final score. In the victory, the Lions recorded a team attack percentage of .336.
