Joplin, Mo. - The Lions began a two game home-stand on Friday, October 6th, hosting the Riverhawks of Northeastern State in a match that ended in favor of Northeastern State, 2-0.
After the Riverhawks started things off with a quick goal,
Cathy Ray had a shot on goal which was saved by the goalkeeper, keeping the score at 1-0 in favor of Northeastern State at the half.
Maya Greenquist had two shots on goal in the second half for the Lions, but both were saved by the Riverhawk defense.
Northeastern State scored a goal in the 64th minute and did not allow a goal from Southern, giving the 2-0 win to Northeastern State.
The Lions move to 0-9-2 (0-3-1 MIAA) on the season and will complete a two-game home-stand on Sunday, October 8th to take on Rogers State at 2:00 PM.
