Lions Hang Tough With #12 Bronchos

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program challenged #12 Central Oklahoma this afternoon losing 3-1 with Ella Durocher getting her second goal of the season at Hal Bodon Field.
 
The Lions (1-8, 1-2 MIAA) were led by Durocher with a goal and two shots in only six minutes tonight. Lilly Doneghue had three saves in goal as well.
 
#12 Central Oklahoma (7-1-2, 2-1-0 MIAA) was led by Adria Ramirez with two goals with three shots on goal, Monika McGee also scored in her lone shot of the night. Caroline Faulkner collected four saves in her 61:58 minutes stationed in goal.
 
UCO got on the board first with a goal in the 5th minute before adding another in the 38th to head into the half up 2-0. For the first half both teams carved out chances with the Bronchos lone shots on goal in the half resulting in goals, the Lions did force three saves out of the Broncho goalie tonight in the first half.
 
The second half saw both teams continue to carve out chances with UCO getting their third of the night in the 51st minute before Durocher got one back for the Lions in the 67th minute for the final score line of 3-1. 
 
Up next for the Lions is a trip to Oklahoma where they will play Northeastern State and Rogers State next weekend. The game against the RiverHawks is set for Friday September 30th, with kickoff from DeLoache Field in Tahlequah is set for 7:00pm. To close the week the Lions will be in Claremore where they will take on the Hillcats on Sunday, October 2nd with kickoff from Soldier Field set for 1:00pm.
