Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Southern track and field programs have had 26 individuals recognized for academic excellence as the MIAA announced its outdoor track and field academic awards today.
The Lions had 12 men and 14 women named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
The 14 women recognized on the Academic Honor Roll were
Katie Candrl,
Jasmine Deckard,
Alice Evans,
Kayana Gaines,
Kelie Henderson,
Alyssa Jerome,
Jazmine Knight,
Jenari Lopez,
Claire Luallen,
Mackenzie Moring,
Elizabeth Pomatto,
Grace Scott,
Riley Vickrey and
LaNea Wallace.
The 12 men recognized were
Trey Beachler,
Bryan Candrl,
Rajheim Carby,
Zachary Finley,
Santiago Granados,
Taris Jackson,
Gidieon Kimutai,
Gabe McClain,
Jarod Ozee,
Ryan Riddle,
Brendan Rozier and
JP Rutledge.
In addition to the Academic Honor Roll, Rutledge and Luallen were were one of 59 MIAA student-athletes named Scholar-Athletes. Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors for the current season.
Finally, Rutledge earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. He was one of 60 MIAA student-athletes to earn the award. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Freshman and first-time transfers academic honors will be announced later in June.
