Allendale, Mich. – The Missouri Southern track and field programs picked up ten total All-American performances, while the Southern men tied a program best 6
th-place finish as the Lions competed at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State.
The sixth-place finish for the Lions tie a program-best for national finish at the outdoor championships, matching the performance of the 2017 squad. The Lions earned 30 points and were tied with Adams State for sixth place overall. The Southern women earned 12 points and finished in 22
nd.
The Lions picked up eight All-American performances in the final day of competition and earned ten altogether for the Championships.
The men's javelin started things off for the Lions on day three as the trio of
Rajheim Carby,
Nathan Kovis and
Brendan Rozier all earned All-American honors. Carby was the national runner-up, placing second in the event with a distance of 70.88, while Kovis was third at 68.45m. Rozier finished off the trifecta with a mark of 66.86m to finish fifth.
Carby's mark was his first throw of the event, while Kovis and Rozier had their top throws in their second attempt. The trio picked up 18 points for the Lions in the event.
Southern then picked up two more All-American performances in the men's triple jump as
Adrain Broadus placed seventh with a mark of 15.50m and
Taris Jackson was eighth at 15.25m. Broadus hit his mark in his final jump of the first round and Jackson needed a big mark in his final attempt to move up to eighth to secure an All-American finish.
Elizabeth Pomatto picked up the second national runner-up finish for the Lions today as she placed second in the women's javelin. Pomatto broke her own school record in the event

with a heave of 53.04m. She hit that mark in her second-to-last toss of the event.
The Lions then picked up a pair of All-American performances in the women's 100m hurdles as
Kiara Smith was sixth in a time of 14.07 and
Precious Olatunji finished eighth with a time of 14.24 for the seventh and eighth All-American performances of the day.
Ryan Riddle finished off the meet with a 14
th-place finish in the men's 5k, crossing the line in a time of 14:19.47.
