Claremore, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team got a two-RBI single from
Matt Miller in the first and made it stand as
Laif Hultine and the bullpen limited Rogers State to one run in a 2-1 win today.
Southern (24-15, 14-10 MIAA) got a 2-for-4 day at the plate from Miller as he finished with a pair of RBIs.
Nate Mieszkowski and
Henry Kusiak scored a run each, while Kusiak,
Tommy Stevenson,
Cole Robinson and
Chayton Beck had a hit each.
Hultine went four innings and limited the Hillcats (19-18, 12-11 MIAA) to just three hits, while striking out three to move to 2-2 on the season.
Ryan Paschal,
Cale McCallister, and
Steen Lane threw in relief with Lane recording the final out for the save.
RSU had six different batters with a hit each, while Gavin Mestas scored the lone run.
With the bases loaded in the first, Miller came through with a two-out single to left field to score Kusiak and Mieszkowski to give the Lions a 2-0 lead after one.
The pitching staff was nearly flawless, with the lone run coming in the sixth on an RBI ground out.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern travels to Newman for a three-game set. Games will be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
