Warrensburg, Mo. – The Missouri Southern baseball team got a pair of doubles from
Jordan Fitzpatrick and a home run from
Tommy Stevenson, but the Lions fell 11-3 today at 4
th-ranked Central Missouri inside Crane Stadium.
Southern (23-15, 13-10 MIAA) got a 3-for-4 day at the plate from
Jordan Fitzpatrick as he had two doubles and a pair of runs scored. Stevenson went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, while
Case Tucker and
Chayton Beck had a hit each.
Matt Miller drove in a run, as well.
Cole Woods started and went five innings, while
Cale McCallister,
Ryan Paschal,
Chase Beiter and
Steen Lane threw in relief.
Central (29-4, 22-1 MIAA) had three hits from Brennen vanBreusegen and six RBIs from John Prudhom.
The Lions trailed 4-0 after three, before an RBI ground out from Miller got the Lions on the board, scoring Fitzpatrick.
Stevenson homered to left center to score Fitzpatrick in the fifth to get Southern within a run (4-3), but Central scored three runs in the fifth to go up 7-3 after five.
The Mules scored four more runs to put the game away.
The Lions will travel to Rogers State on Tuesday afternoon for a mid-week game with the Hillcats, before playing three at Newman this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
