Edmond, Okla. – The Missouri Southern baseball team completed the series sweep and took out Central Oklahoma 18-7 in eight innings in the series finale today at Wendell Simmons Field.
The Lions (15-8, 6-3 MIAA) banged out 17 hits on the day led by
Tommy Stevenson and
Matt Miller with three hits each. Stevenson had a double, while Miller added a homer.
Jordan Fitzpatrick,
Henry Kusiak and
Drew Davis had two hits each, while five other Lions hat a hit each.
Kusiak drove in four, while Fitzpatrick and Miller had three RBIs each.
Ryan Doran and
Treghan Parker drove in two.
Clay Milas tied a single-game record with five runs scored.
Cole Gayman started and went three and two thirds of an inning to get the win and move to 4-1 on the year.
Scott Duensing went an inning and a third, striking out four, while
Ryan Paschal and
Jeremiah Kennedy threw the final three innings.
The Lions scored a run in the second on an RBI single from
Matt Miller and broke it open in the third with four runs. A sacrifice fly from Fitzpatrick was followed by a two-run double from Parker.
Tyler Ferguson then singled home Parker for the final run of the inning.
UCO (10-9, 4-4 MIAA) got a pair of runs in the third, before the Lions added three more in the fourth.
Drew Davis scored an unearned run to start the scoring, before Fitzpatrick doubled home a pair. Kusiak then drove home Stevenson for the final run.
The Bronchos added a single run in the fourth, before the Lions added five in the fifth. Miller had a two-run homer to start the scoring, before
Case Tucker scored an unearned run and Stevenson doubled home Milas. Kusiak singled home Stevenson for the final run of the inning.
A run from the Bronchos in the fifth preceded a two-run single from Doran for the Lions in the seventh. Two more for the Bronchos in the seventh made the score 15-7, Lions, before Southern added three in the eighth. Fitzpatrick singled home Miller and Kusiak singled home both Milas and Tucker.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow as Southern travel to Rogers State for a 2 pm first pitch with the Hillcats.
