Pittsburg, Kan. – The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field teams came away with another pair of All-American performances today as the Lions competed in the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Pittsburg State University.
Kiara Smith started the action for the Lions as she nearly pulled off a National Championship, finishing just .02 off the leader for a National Runner-Up finish in the 60m hurdles. She crossed the line in a time of 8.41, breaking her own school record in the event.
In the triple jump,
Adrain Broadus finished just outside of All-American contention, placing ninth in the event, just three-quarters of an inch from a place on the medal stand. He hit a mark of 15.37m (50-04.25) in his final jump of the evening.
In the Lions' final event of the day,
Ryan Riddle jumped out to an early lead in the 5k and led every lap but the final, finishing seventh for All-American honors. He crossed the line in a time of 8:01.38. It is Riddle's third All-American honor of his career.
In total, the Lions brought home four All-American honors at the Championships. The Southern men placed 26
th in the final team standings, while the women placed 23
