Bats Come Alive In Double-Header Sweep Of Winona State

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern baseball team swept a double-header from visiting Winona State today, winning 13-1 in the opener and 15-9 in the nightcap.
 
The Lions (2-1) had an offensive barrage today, with five home runs over the two games. Tommy Stevenson had three of the five homers as he went 3-for-3 in game one with two RBIs and three runs scored and he followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance in game two with four RBIs and three runs scored.
 
Henry Kusiak had two homers of his own, both coming in game two. Kusiak went 3-for-4 in game one with three runs and an RBI, while going 3-for-5 in game two with four RBIs and three runs scored.
 
Clay Milas went 2-for-2 in game one, while Jordan Fitzpatrick had two hits, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Drew Davis drove in a pair in game one, as well.
 
Game two saw Nate Mieszkowski go 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Jordan Fitzpatrick went 4-for-5 with four runs scored.
 
Cole Woods started for the Lions in the opener and went five innings, while striking out ten and allowing just one run to get the win. Chase Beiter started in game two as he went five innings and struck out five to pick up the win in the nightcap.
 
The Lions and Warriors will be back at it tomorrow afternoon with a single game starting at 1 pm from Warren Turner Field.
