Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern softball program will host the Teri Mathis Zenner (TMZ) Memorial Tournament tomorrow and Monday in a shortened version due to weather that swept through the Joplin area.
Southern will play the second game of the day tomorrow playing Maryville at 4:00pm before wrapping up TMZ with a double header against Northern State on Monday at 2:00 and 4:00 pm approximately inside the Pat Lipira Softball Complex.
The Lions (5-6) are led by
Ashlynn Williams with a .452 batting average with 14 hits and 14 RBIs, a .710 slugging percentage and a .538 on base percentage while recording 67 putouts.
Yazmin Vargas is second on the team with a .344 batting average while having a team-high 11 runs scored and swiped 7 bases so far this season.
Leighton Withers has a .333 batting average with 11 hits, five doubles and 12 RBIs while having a team-high 25 assists. In the circle
Bailey Lacy has a 2.74 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched while holding opposing batters to a .292 batting average.
Kara Amos has made eight appearances in the circle pitching 35 innings with 29 strikeouts and
Avery Tallman has appeared in six games pitching in 17.2 innings striking out 10 and issuing out only two walks.
Maryville (2-6) is led by Taylor Duff with a .333 batting average with seven hits, Taylor Shingler is hitting .273 and has three steals so far. Erin Sammelmann leads the team with five RBIs while hitting .294 and Lexi Touchette has recorded 62 putouts defensively. In the circle Emersen Heron has a 2.77 ERA in five appearances pitching 17.2 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .260 batting average. Olivia Jarvis spots a 4.74 ERA in five appearances pitching 20.2 innings with a team-high 11 strikeouts while limiting opposing batters to a .280 batting average.
Northern State (5-4) is led by Liv Richardson with a .367 batting average with 11 hits, four doubles while having seven RBIs and slugs .600. Avarie Eagle leads the team with 11 RBIs with a .286 batting average with three home runs. Elly Smith leads the team with 48 putouts while hitting .333 with two home runs and eight RBIs. In the circle Meghan Anderson has a 4.32 ERA with a 3-2 record in 34 innings, striking out 58 and limiting opposing batters to a .236 batting average. Reagan Elrod has a 6.36 ERA in 25.1 innings with a 2-2 record and limits opposing batters to a .304 batting average.
