Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program honored four seniors tonight at Hal Bodon Field before taking on Washburn and falling 4-1.
The Lions (1-10-1, 1-4-1 MIAA) were led by one of the four seniors honored tonight as
Aisley Stevens picked up her second assist of the season and had two shots on goal with three shots total to lead the team.
Maya Greenquist opened her scoring account for the season with a goal right before the first half ended and
Jori Hays had a shot on goal tonight as well. Senior
Riley Laver got the start and recorded three saves in the first half and
Lilly Doneghue played the second half in goal collecting three saves as well.
Washburn (9-2-2. 4-1-1 MIAA) had three different goal scorers and three different assisters tongith as Khloe Schuckman led the team with two goals and assisted one while having five shots on goal with seven shots total. Raegan Wells played the full 90 minutes in goal and registered three saves.
The Ichabods got the scoring started in the first half with goals in the 9
th and 11
th minutes to open a 2-0 score that almost made it to the halftime whistle. The Lions would get on the board at 44:21 as Greenquist scored with Stevens picking up the assist on the goal to make it 2-1 right before the half.
In the second half the wind died down but Washburn scored within the first minute of the half and again in the 60
th to seal the 4-1 score line. Up next for the Lions will be Emporia State on Sunday with kickoff from Hal Bodon Field set for 2:00pm to close out the weekends action.
