Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program ended the week with a 3-0 loss against Emporia State at Hal Bodon Field today.
The Lions (1-11-1, 1-5-1 MIAA) were led by
Ashley Koepp with three shots, while
Lexington Kneedler was the other Lion to finish with two or more shots today.
Lilly Doneghue had three saves in goal tonight while playing the full 90 minutes.
Emporia State (6-4-4, 4-0-3 MIAA) Hannah Woolery finished with a goal and assist today to lead the Hornets, Mikayla Lampe and Angela Palmer were also on the score sheet with goals and Rhea Bailey had an assist as well. Palmer got off three shots and had two shots on goal to lead the team.
In the first half, both teams took turns controlling the game but the Hornets were able to score in the 39
th minute off a free kick just outside the box and took a 1-0 lead into the half. The second half saw Emporia State get goals in the 48
th and 66
thminutes of play to seal a 3-0 score line.
Up next for the Lions will be on a long road trip to Hays and Kearney. Friday October, 14th the Lions will be at Fort Hays State to begin the week with kickoff from the FHSU Soccer Stadium set for 6:00pm. To close the week Southern will be in Kearney, Neb. To take on the Lopers with kickoff from Foster Field at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at 1:00pm.
