Lions Host Hillcats And RiverHawks In MIAA Play

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program continues MIAA play as they will host Rogers State and Northeastern State this weekend at Hal Bodon Field.
 
For the Lions (1-5-2, 0-1-0 MIAA) Banner Williams and Elisabeth Pujado both got their first goals of the season last week and were assisted by Maya Greenquist. Greenquist now leads the Lions and ranks fifth in the MIAA in assists with three, Mackenzie Scholtz is right behind her with two assists ranking eighth in the MIAA. Ella Durocher leads the Lions with two goals scored as nine others have scored this season as well. Jori Hays has a team-high 20 shots and 13 shots on goal with most of her shots coming from well outside the box. In goal Riley Laver ranks sixth in the MIAA in saves per game 4.83, save percentage 0.784, seventh in total saves with 29 and is ninth in minutes in goal at 517:29. 
 
Missouri Southern will kick off from Hal Bodon Field for the Pink Game against Rogers State Friday, at 6:00 pm and on Sunday, at 2:00 pm against Northeastern State. Rogers State (5-1-1, 1-0-0 MIAA) is coming off a 3-2 loss to Central Oklahoma and a 2-1 win over Newman to begin MIAA play last week. Leading the charge for the Hillcats, Vanessa Gonzalez has four goals and an assist and team-highs in shots 21, and shots on goal with 13. Scoring twice this season has been Libby Doyle, Desiree Morgas, Jenna Burkham and Kori Watters for the Hillcats. Rogers State has had six different players dish out an assist this season. Savannah Harvey has started all seven games and clocked 593:35 minutes in goal, has 29 saves, a 0.829 save percentage, owns a 0.91 GAA with two shutouts. 
 
Northeastern State (3-3-2, 0-1-0 MIAA) is coming off a 3-0 win against Newman and a 1-0 loss to begin MIAA play against Central Oklahoma last week. Leading the line Callie Rucker has three goals and assists, Payton Lieb, Hayley Garcia and Myka Heimbach have two goals each this season as well. Lieb and Rucker lead the RiverHawks in shots and shots on goal as well and have played and started in all eight games this season. In goal Ainsley Cunningham has played in 487:12 minutes in goal collecting 26 saves, has a 0.743 save percentage, a 1.66 GAA and a shutout.
