Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Southern women's track and field coaching staff has been named the MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year as announced by the MIAA this morning.

Jason Francis helped the Lions' women secure the 2021 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend.
The Lions scored 145 points, defeating second-place Central Missouri by 15 points. The team secured five event championships taking home titles in the 4x100m relay, discus, long jump, javelin and the 100m hurdles.
It is the women's fourth MIAA Outdoor Team Championship and first since 2010. As a team, the Lions had 16 All-MIAA performances at the Championships.
Southern is currently ranked fifth nationally in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings. The Lions will be back in action this weekend competing at Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday and Sunday, before finding out early next which athletes will be heading to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships at the end of May.
