NEW ORLEANS – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
CENTRAL REGION – Athlete of the Year
Joy Udo-Gabriel
Udo-Gabriel, who hails from Abia, Nigeria, shone across 60 meters this season, breaking the NCAA DII record twice on the way to a national title – in a championship record time of 7.11 – at the 2025 NCAA DII Indoor Championships. She first took down the 60-meter record at the MIAA Indoor Championships, where she ran 7.13 to win the final.
Each of the eight regions – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – honored both gender's top track athletes and field athletes as well as the top men's and women's head coaches and assistant coaches.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2025 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. Performances from both the NCAA Championships and the regular season were considered. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
