Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern softball program hits the road one last time during the regular season playing at Lincoln and Central Missouri Saturday, Sunday.
First pitch against Lincoln from the LU Softball Field is set for 12 pm and against Central Missouri from the South Recreation Complex at 1 pm.
Southern (17-12-1, 8-5-1 MIAA) as a team leads the MIAA and ranks eighth nationally in double plays turned, while also leading the MIAA in triples as well. Ranks second in the MIAA for stolen bases and sacrifice bunts.
Through 30 games the Lions have the best winning percentage (.583) since the 2002 season and have beat at least one ranked opponent for the second year under coach Blackney.
Josie Tofpi leads the team with a .402 batting average (5
th best in MIAA), .620 slugging percentage, 37 hits (T-10
th in MIAA), nine doubles (T-7th in MIAA), 23 RBIs, while adding three home runs, three stolen bases, a .466 on-base percentage (7
th in MIAA) and 62 assists (8
th in MIAA).
Yazmin Vargas has a .324 batting average as the leadoff hitter scoring a team-high 24 runs while stealing 18 bases (T-2
nd in the MIAA and ranks 19
th nationally).
Kara Amos has a .362 batting average, has drawn 11 walks and leads the team with a .476 on-base percentage (5
th in MIAA).

Abby Atkin is 7-5 with a 2.54 ERA (9
th in MIAA) in 20 appearances. Atkin has pitched 74.1 innings striking out 33 and limits opposing batters to a .272 batting average.
Bailey Lacy is 6-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 14 appearances. Lacy has pitched 49.1 innings striking out a team-high 44 and limits opposing batters to a .260 batting average while having a 1.30 WHIP.
The Blue Tigers (6-25-1, 3-15 MIAA) are led by Emily Williams with a .338 batting average and has 15 RBIs. Jordan Hollon leads the team with three home runs and has 15 RBIs. In the circle for Lincoln, Tressa Hughes has a 5.74 ERA going 2-9 in 16 appearances pitching 61 innings, striking out a team-high 44. Maddie Welker is 2-7 with a 4.26 ERA in 17 appearances pitching 47.2 innings and limiting opposing batters to a .296 batting average.
The Jennies (23-9, 12-4 MIAA) are led by Ashlyn Cook with a .404 batting average has six home runs of the season and a team-high 24 RBIs to go with a .697 slugging percentage and a .460 on-base percentage.
