Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern softball program travels to Edmond, Okla. facing off against the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma in MIAA play.
Southern (6-4,1-1 MIAA) is coming into the game after splitting the opening MIAA double header against Newman on the road and taking part in the Emporia State 5-State Classic Saturday and Sunday this past week. While the Bronchos (7-3) went 1-3 on their road trip to Texas at the end of February.
As a team the Lions rank second in the conference for triples (5), third in scoring per game (6.9), and stolen bases per game (1.9).Â
Kara Amos leads the Lions in batting average at .571 and with a .654 on base percentage both are second best in the conference.
Ashlynn Williams leads the team in triple and tied for the led in the conference with two, ranked second in the conference with 16 RBIs, and third in slugging percentage 1.000.
Abby Atkin leads the Lions with a 2.04 ERA the tenth best in the conference. In the circle Amos is 3-1 with 18 strikeouts limiting opposing batters to a .293 batting average.
UCO is hitting .280 as a team averaging 7.2 hits and 6.4 runs per game.
Allie Eicher leads the team with a .435 batting average and a 1.232 on base percentage. Hazel Puempel has two home runs and 10 RBIs while posting a .636 slugging percentage. Corrina Rivas in the circle owns a 2.58 ERA and is 3-1 having pitched 21.2 innings. Kylee Lynch is 4-1 om the season having pitched 25.2 innings striking out a team-high 15 batters and limiting opposition to a .280 batting average.
