Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped the first set, but stormed back to win the next three and defeat visiting Pittsburg State three sets to one inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center tonight. 

Individual set scores were 22-25, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-22. 

Southern (1-3) was led by Janelle Brehm who had 19 kills and 11 digs, hitting .292 in the match. Alyssa Diaz had 15 kills and hit .500, while Sophie Mader had 53 assists and eight digs. Kylah Carter had ten kills, while Abbie Casper and Brooklynn McCain had 17 and 11 digs, respectively. 

Pitt (1-4) was led by Meg Auten with 22 kills. 

The Lions dropped the opening set in what was a close affair that saw nine ties and six lead changes. Southern, however, won the final three sets, including the fourth and final set that saw just one tied score and zero lead changes. 

The Lions will be back at it this Saturday when the Lions travel to St. Joseph to take on Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri.
