Southern Athletics Announces Administrative Updates

Joplin, Mo. – Missouri Southern Director of Athletics Rob Mallory has announced a promotion and an addition to the administrative team at MSSU.

Cori Reid has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director and will handle internal operations, while Ryan Snyder has joined the department as the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations.

"After several staff departures this past summer, these moves serve to bring stability and clarity to our administrative staff," Mallory said. "Cori guided the department exceptionally well as Interim AD. This promotion will give her a larger role in day-to-day operations and in representing Missouri Southern at the MIAA and NCAA level. Bringing Ryan in on the external side provides leadership in that area. I was fortunate to know Ryan as a student-athlete and have followed his professional journey since then. He has already shown himself to be a valuable addition to our team."

Reid is in her second stint with the Missouri Southern Athletic Department and serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator. She served as the Interim Athletic Director from March 17, 2021 through June 30, 2021. Reid previously served in a similar position from 2012-2014 at Southern before serving as the Athletic Director for Neosho (Mo.) High School.

Reid will supervise internal functions of the department such as business operations, human resources, facilities, and Title IX compliance, while also serving as the department's Senior Woman Administrator

"I am very grateful to serve as the Associate Athletic Director for our athletic department," she said. "Missouri Southern has been my home for many years and I look forward to continuing to serve our student-athletes and work with so many great people in our athletic department and our institution as a whole."

Snyder is in his first year with the Green and Gold and comes to Southern after spending three years at Penn State University. Snyder served as Assistant Director of Strategic Communications for the Nittany Lions. Snyder served as the primary contact for the women's soccer, women's basketball, baseball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. He also served as the secondary contact for the men's basketball program in his three years in Happy Valley

Prior to Penn State, Snyder served as the Director of Athletic Communication overseeing all 19 NCAA sponsored athletic teams offered by Quincy University. He spent one season as an assistant coach on the 2017 NCAA Division II World Series baseball staff.  Prior to his coaching stint Snyder complied a historic two-year baseball career at QU, culminating in being named first-team All-American in 2016, as well as the GLVC and Midwest Region Player of the Year.

In 2016, Snyder broke multiple single season school records, including home runs (23), RBIs (88), and hits (92).  He also finished the season with a .444 average (3rd best in QU History), 72 runs scored, and 19 doubles (4th best in QU History).

"I would first and foremost like to thank athletic director Rob Mallory for this opportunity to be a part of the Missouri Southern family," he said. "I am excited to work with many talented colleagues at MSSU and continue to help support our student-athletes to have the best experience possible during their time in Joplin as well as preparing them for a lifetime of impact."
