Edmond, Olkla. – The Missouri Southern Volleyball team had three different players with double-figure digs, but the Lions fell three sets to none at Central Oklahoma tonight. Individual set scores were 12-25, 18-25 and 14-25.
The Lions (3-21, 0-14 MIAA) picked up seven kills from
Amelia Neels and 19 assists from
Sophie Mader.
Emily-Kate Lonergan had a team-high 15 digs, while
Brooklynn McCain and
Josey Goldberg had 11 digs each.
Armyni Perales and Goldberg had four kills each.
UCO (17-6, 10-5 MIAA) was led by nine kills from Jenna Karp.
The opening set saw four ties and three lead changes as the two teams traded scores for the first ten points. The Bronchos opened up a 16-12 lead midway through and forced a Lions' timeout. UCO closed the set on a 12-0 run.
Set two was back-and-forth with 12 ties and six lead changes. The set was tied at 14, before UCO rolled off six-straight points to take a 20-14 lead. The Lions got a late point to get within six (24-18) on a kill from Neels, but UCO scored the final point to take the set.
The Bronchos opened up a 14-8 lead midway through to force a Southern timeout and led 21-10 late.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday night as Southern travels to No. 2 ranked Central Missouri for a 6 pm start.
