Softball Faces Pittsburg State in First MIAA Doubleheader on MOSO MANE-IAC DAY

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern softball team is set to play a home-and-home series against cross-state rival Pittsburg State beginning with two games inside the Pat Lipira Softball Complex acting as the designated MIAA contests tomorrow afternoon before heading to PSU for a pair of non-conference games on Saturday.

MSSU hosted its Teri Mathis-Zenner tournament in a one-day event last Friday, splitting its pair of games with a 9-2 victory over William Jewell and then a 9-6 loss to Rockhurst to close it out. Senior Lexi Ferrari crushed a three-run home run to cap off the scoring for the Southern in the first game and then fellow senior Angel Badalamenti recorded four singles and drove in two runs on a perfect 4-of-4 stand at the plate in game two.

The Lions schedule continues to get interesting down the line as MIAA play begins and the final in-season tournament in St. Joseph, Missouri taking place in two weeks where the Lions battle six teams from the Northern Sun Conference, including No. 24 Wayne State and Sioux Falls for the second time this season and the likes of Minnesota State - Mankato, St. Cloud, Northern State, and Winona State to round out the HY-VEE Classic.
