Alva, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team dropped a hard-luck loss today in a pitcher's duel, 2-1 at Northwestern Oklahoma State.
Southern (3-1) got a stellar performance on the mound from
Corbin Osburn as the lefty went seven innings, allowed just three hits, while striking out 12.
Cam Bednar threw a perfect eighth, striking out the side.
Offensively,
Joe Kinder and
Alec Alvarez had two hits each with four other Lions picking up a hit each.
Easton Fortuna drive in a run, while
Denver Coffee scored the lone tally.
NWOSU (5-2) got nine innings from its starter Wharton Walker as he struck out eight.
Northwestern got a run in the first and another in the third, while Fortuna drove in Coffee in the fifth for the Lions' lone run.
Southern will be back in action next weekend as they play host to Maryville and Illinois-Springfield in multiple games from Friday through Sunday.
