Rolla, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team dropped a 2-0 game to Missouri S&T today that saw just eight hits between the two teams.
Southern (3-2) had hits from
Johnny Balsamo and
Alex Phillips.
Joe Kinder and
Cory Canterbury had a walk each.
Zac Shoemaker started and went five innings, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out six.
Jared Flores went three innings, striking out four and allowing just three hits.
Missouri S&T (1-2) got seven strong innings from starter Dalton Erger. Kaleb Reid had two hits, while Matt Gruse had an RBI.
The Miners scored one run in the bottom of the first and added another un in the bottom of the eighth.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend with games against Illinois-Springfield and Maryville. Southern will play UIS on Saturday at noon, while UIS and Maryville will play each other at 3 pm, thereafter. Sunday, the Lions will play UIS at noon and Maryville at 3 pm and the Lions will finish the weekend with a game against Maryville at 1 pm on Monday afternoon.
