Bolivar, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team dropped the final two games of the series today as they fell 6-4 and 7-2 at Southwest Baptist.
Southern (19-15, 11-9 MIAA) got a pair of home runs in the first game from
Mike Million and
Richie Gorski.
Brett Graham and Million had a pair of hits, while
Tyler Sutherland,
Joe Paulino, and Gorski had a hit each in game one.
Dan Hawk started and went four and two thirds of an inning and allowed just two earned runs.
Brandon Saddler threw three innings, while
Colin Chandler threw a third of an inning.
SBU (21-9, 11-7 MIAA) got a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 5-0 after six. The Lions got home runs from Milion in the seventh and Gorski in the eighth but couldn't complete the comeback.
In game two, the Lions had eight hits, including three from Gorski and two from
Alec Alvarez. Gorski drove in two, while Alvarez and Sutherland scored a run each.
Walker Whitworth Graham and Sutherland had a hit each.
Sean Goostree started and went four and a third, allowing three earned runs.
Zach Litchen threw two and two thirds, while
Christian Goshen threw an inning.
Both teams scored a run each in the first and third innings, but a three-run fifth from the Bearcats broke the game open. SBU scored a run each in the sixth and eighth.
The Lions will be back in action on April 4 as Southern travels to Central Oklahoma. First pitch is slated for 3 pm.
