St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team led 5-3 after six innings, but a pair of big innings for Lindenwood doomed Southern in a 12-7 series finale loss today.
Southern (8-6, 1-2 MIAA) was led by a 4-5 day at the plate from
Tyler Sutherland as he scored twice.
Brett Graham was 2-3 with a run and three driven in, while
Dave Prost had three RBIs, as well.
Richie Gorski scored twice, while
Mike Million had two hits.
Dan Hawk started and went five innings, allowing two earned runs, striking out four and walking one.
Hayden Brauser,
Colin Chandler,
Cody Smith,
Eric Wilkinson and
Trenton Moeller threw in relief.
Cody Smith drew the loss to move to 1-3 on the season.
Southern went on top with a run in the second when
Alec Alvarez drove in Gorski.
Lindenwood (8-5, 2-1 MIAA) scored twice in the fourth before the Lions plated three runs in the top of the fifth on a three-run double from Prost.
After another Lindenwood run, Southern plated a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Graham to go up 5-3 after six. Lindenwood, however scored three in the seventh and despite two more runs from Southern in the eighth, scored six more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Southern will be back in action on March 1, as the Lions travel to Arkansas Tech. First-pitch is slated for 2 pm.
