Joplin, Mo. – Missouri Southern Baseball will return to Joe Becker Stadium for a one-night matchup against Pittsburg State University on Wednesday, April 26
th, 2017. First pitch is slated for 6:00 pm.
"We are excited about going to Joe Becker to play one special night game at the new and improved stadium" said Missouri Southern Athletic Director
Jared Bruggeman. "While we treasure having our own magnificent baseball stadium with the excellent quality turf at Warren Turner Field located on the campus of Missouri Southern, we do recognize the long and historic tradition we have in playing at Joe Becker Stadium over the previous decades. We appreciate our partnership with the city of Joplin and working with us to put on a great night for baseball fans across the area."
Joe Becker served as the Lion's home venue until the completion of Warren Turner Field in 2015. The historic stadium, built in 1913, underwent a $4.7 million reconstruction in 2014 that included renovations of lighting, restrooms, locker rooms, dugouts, concessions and seating.
The MSSU Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations will host a free tailgate party from 4-6 pm in the west parking lot (third base side). MSSU alumni and friends are invited to attend. All those wearing Green & Gold or MSSU apparel can get a Mutt Burger or hot dog and a soft drink.
"This special event will include many unique opportunities including in-game promotions, fireworks and special recognitions" Bruggeman said. "We look forward to a huge crowd while we take on Pitt State in a conference show-down. "
