St. Joseph, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Lions (22-27, 9-11) managed just three runs on the day as they fell 10-2 and 10-1 to 18th ranked Missouri Western (32-10, 17-3) Friday evening at the Griffon Softball Field.
Game OneIn the opening game Missouri Western scored first in the bottom of the first on a RBI single back up the middle by Paige Shifflett for the 1-0 lead. Southern tied the game in the top of the second when senior

Angel Badalamenti, who reached on a hit by pitch. The Griffons put up a six spot in the bottom of the second to take a 7-1 lead and the Lions pushed across another run in the top of the third as senior

Ashley Lutz (13-13) got the start in game one going just two innings allowing seven runs, all earned, on eight hits with one strike out. Freshman
Taurean Guzman pitched 3.2 innings of relief shutting out the powerful Griffon offense for three innings before allowing three runs, all earned, in the sixth.
Game TwoIn the night cap Missouri Western jumped on the Lions quickly scoring five runs in the bottom of the opening frame and one in the second. After Southern changed pitchers for the third inning, the Griffons scored another four runs in the third for a 10-0 lead. The lone Southern run came in the top of the fourth when junior

Lutz got the start inside the circle for game two allowing six runs, five earned, on four hits in just two innings of work. Sophomore Kal' Hodson pitched the third inning allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits and Williams pitched the bottom of the fourth sitting the Griffons down 1-2-3.
