St. Joseph, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Lions (15-20, 3-5 MIAA) closed out the 2016 Apple Market Classic with an 8-0 run rule victory over Concordia-St. Paul Sunday evening at Heritage Park.
Game One
Freshman
Angel Badalamenti provided the lone highlight in Southern's opening game of the day with a solo shot, the first of her collegiate career, against 16th ranked Winona State as the Warriors defeated the Lions 14-1 in five innings.
Game Two
Sophomore
Myranda Stewart got things started in the top of the first with a three run home run to left center that scored fellow sophomore
Abi Corbett and Badalamenti, both reached on walks. A sacrifice fly from Badalamenti in the second inning scored junior
Sarah Morrison to make it 4-0 before senior
Sarah Williams became the school's single season home run leader in the third inning when she sent a 3-1 pitch over the center field wall for a three run shot and made it 7-0 Southern. A double by Corbett later in the inning scored Morrison to make it 8-0.
Sophomore
Kali' Hodson tossed the one hit shut out of the Golden Bears as the Lions equaled their win total from the 2015 season allowing just five base runners, two via walks. and struck out seven.

The Lions head to Warrensburg on Wednesday to resume MIAA play with the double header at the Jennies Field at the South Rec Complex scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
