Lindenwood Downs Southern 4-1

St. Charles, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Women's Soccer team struck first but a streaking Lindenwood Lady Lions came from behind to take the win 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium.

Sophomore Denine Tahbaz got the scoring started early in the opening half when she beat a charging Lindenwood goalie in the sixth minute off a pass from freshman Tayler LePage.  Lindenwood evened the score at 1-1 in the 25th minute on a goal by Alyssa Houck and took a 2-1 lead in the 43rd minute on a goal by Becky Roberts. Lindenwood out-shot Missouri Southern 5-4 in the opening half and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The second half saw two more goals from Lindenwood as Kat Roe picked up the pair in the 53rd and 74th minutes for a 4-1 final score. Lindenwood held a 13-4 advantage in shots in the second half and Southern held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. For the game, Lindenwood ended up with a 18-8 advantage in shots, 8-6 in shots on goal, and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Tahbaz led the Southern offensive attack with four shots, all on goal, while junior Taylor Beck added two shots, one on goal. Freshman Ashton Denham added one shot on goal and sophomore Bailey North added a shot. Freshman Luz Galindo played all 90 minutes in the net for Southern recording four saves.

Missouri Southern will return home on Friday as they host Southwest Baptist for senior night. Kickoff from Hal Bodon Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.
