Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Soccer team dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to Fort Hays State Saturday morning at Fred G. Hughes Stadium at the Robert W. Plaster Sports Complex.
Fort Hays State (10-3-1, 6-1-0 MIAA) pulled out the 1-0 win in the 73rd minute when Darby Hirsch scored off a missed clear by the Missouri Southern (3-8-2, 0-6-1 MIAA) defense following a Tigers free kick.
FHSU out shot the Lions 10-6 overall and held a 6-2 in shots on goal advantage. Junior

Jazzleen Wharry led the Southern offensive attack with two shots, one on goal, each. Sophomore

Sitona Holm each added a shot for the Lions. FHSU was led by Hirsch with four shots, three on goal, with six other Tigers recording a shot.
Freshman goalkeeper
Luz Galindo played all 90 minutes in the net for Southern allowing the one goal while recording five saves.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend with a road trip to fourth ranked Central Missouri on Friday October 21 at 7 p.m.
