Weather forces cancellation of MIAA Championship, Lions declared MIAA Tournament Champs

Kansas City, Kan. -- Due to heavy rains and impending weather, the final game in the 2015 MIAA Baseball Tournament has been cancelled. With both remaining teams having only one loss and Missouri Southern being the highest-remaining seed, the Lions have earned the MIAA Tournament Trophy and will be the MIAA's Automatic Qualifier to the 2015 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

The Lions opened the tournament with a win against Washburn and then defeated Emporia State in the winner's bracket final on Friday. ESU, however, returned the favor and on the back of a walk-off home run and a four-run ninth, defeated the Lions in yesterday's first championship game.

The Lions will find out who they will play when the regional tournament begins this Thursday in most likely St. Cloud, Minnesota. St. Cloud State was the number one seed going into this weekend and won the Northern Sun Tournament. Southern Arkansas won the Great American Tournament.

The NCAA Selection Show will begin at approximately 9 pm central time tonight on http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule.

We will have tournament updates as they happen on www.mssulions.com.
