Lions Softball Splits in Day 3 of Five State Classic

Bentonville, Ark. - The Missouri Southern Lions (3-10) split their day three games a the Five State Classic in Bentonville, Ark. winning 6-2 over Southwestern Oklahoma and falling 10-2 to Illinois-Springfield.

In game one sophomore Shelby Romines provided the offensive spark connecting for a three run home run, while fellow sophomore Haley Pypes went the distance inside the circle and took a no hitter into the sixth inning.  Pypes recorded nine strike outs in those seven innings.

Game two highlights came from senior Brooke Hurley who drove in one of the two Lions' runs.  Junior Hannah Cooke got the start and took the loss for the Lions while striking out five.

Southern will be back in action tomorrow as they play Oklahoma Panhandle State at 11am and Rockhurst at 2pm.
