Lions finish in 17th at Missouri Intercollegiate

Sunrise Beach, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team placed 17th in its first fall event of the year, competing at the Missouri Intercollegiate hosted by the Club at Porto Cima. 

Southern was led by freshman Adam Johnson as the Ozark native shot a 242 to place tied for 35th. Sophomore Kaleb Forkner shot a 258, while senior Jared Essary and sophomore Ryan Russell both shot a 262 over the three rounds. Sophomore Jamie Newman shot a three-round 272. 

The Lions will be back in action on September 12-13 when they travel to Pittsburg State to compete in the PSU Invitational at Crestwood Country Club. The event will be the first MIAA points event of the year for Southern.
