Record-setting assist game lifts No. 1 ranked Lions over Lincoln 107-65

Joplin, Mo. -- The number one ranked Missouri Southern Lions set a school record with 33 assists tonight en route to a 107-65 win over visiting Lincoln University today at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

Southern (10-1, 3-1 MIAA) assisted on 33 of 41 made baskets on the night and scored 107 points, the most since a 113-111 loss to Nebraska-Omaha in 2009-10. The Lions were led offensively by Jason Adams as the senior had 22 points and a career-high 11 assits on 8-11 shooting from the field. Keane Thomann scored 16 points and ulled down six rebounds, while Christian Salecich had 14 points and seven assists. TJ Williams and Mike Thompson scored 11 points each, while Jordan Talbert scored seven and had a team-high seven rebounds. Marquis Addison scored eight and had six steals on the game. 

Lincoln (1-6, 1-2 MIAA) was led in scoring by 11 points each from Trent Littlejohn and Andrew Haley. 

The Lions raced 27-6 lead to start the game after a jumper from Thomann in the paint with 11:46 left in the first half. The lead was as much as 25 twice the last being after another jumper from Thomann made the score 45-20 with 3:15 left in the half. 

Southern led by 33 after a pair of freebies from Patrick Hester made the score 83-20 with ten minutes left in the half. The lead reached its highest after a layup from Williams with 22 seconds left made the score 107-65. 

The Lions shot 63 percent from the field and 71 percent in the second half. They shot 39 percent from long range and 75 percent from the free-throw line. They forced 20 Lincoln turnovers and scored 33 points off of the miscues and held a 64-26 advantage of points in the paint. 

The Lions will be off for finals week and will be back in action on December 19 when they play host to Southwest Baptist at 7:30 pm in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
