Lions softball drops two at Nebraska-Omaha

Omaha, Neb. -- The Missouri Southern softball team fell victim to a big inning in game one and a perfect game in game two as the Lions dropped both ends of a double-header at Nebraska-Omaha today. Game one was 18-0 and game two was 9-0.

The Lions (9-19-1, 0-2 MIAA) had hits from Megan Roark, Whitney Clute, Kelli Bax and Breanna Volkmann in game one.

UNO (18-7, 4-0 MIAA) scored three runs in each of the second and third innings, but a 12 run fourth broke open the game.

Kelli Bax started the game and Tiffany Bennett and Kayce More pitched in relief.

In game two, UNO's Lindsey Slocum threw a five-inning perfect game as the Mavericks shutout the Lions 9-0 in five innings.

Southern will be back in action tomorrow when the Lions travel to Northwest Missouri for a double-header beginning at 2 pm.
