Omaha, Neb. --  A bucket from Nebraska-Omaha's Dion Curry as time expired in the overtime period lifted the Mavericks to a 113-111 overtime win over Missouri Southern tonight in Sapp Fieldhouse in Omaha. 

Southern (16-10, 10-9 MIAA) was led in scoring by Skyler Bowlin's 27 points, one off his career high. He went 6-13 from the field and 12-14 from the free-throw line, dishing out six assists. Jason Adams scored 26 points and added a team-high eight rebounds, while Keane Thomann added 17 points and six boards. Mariun Price scored 14 and DaRell Crittendon added nine. 

UNO (19-7, 12-7, MIAA) had six players score in double-figures, including three score 20 led by Tyler Bullock's 24 points on 10-16 shooting. 

The Lions led by as many as five in the first half after a pair of free-throws from Bowlin made the score 20-15 at the 14 minute mark. The game was tied eight times in the first half, but a three from Bullock with 43 seconds left gave the Mavericks a 52-50 lead at the break.

Southern led by seven in the second half after a tip in from Rich Borries made the score 72-65 with just under ten minutes left and led by four with just under thee minutes left. A thee from the Mavs' Andrew Bridger tied the score at 96 with 1:39 to go and after a pair of free throws from UNO gave the Mavs a two-point lead Bowlin hit a jumper with 34 seconds left to tie the game at 98. A late jumper from Bullock wouldn't go, sending the game into overtime. The first extra session game for the Lions this season. 

The Lions led by as many as five in the overtime period after a free-throw from Price gave Southern a 106-101 lead with three minutes left. A free throw from Bowlin with just under a minute left made the score 111-109, Lions. A basket from Bullock tied the game at 111 and the Lions were not able to convert on their next possession setting up the final trip down the court. 

The Mavericks had nearly the entire shot clock to set up their last possession and despite the play breaking down, Curry picked up an errant pass and laid it up off the glass as time expired to give UNO the win. 

The Lions out rebounded UNO 40-31 and forced 13 turnovers. They shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range, but couldn't stop the hot-shooting Mavs who shot 59 percent from the field and 53 percent from beyond the arc. 

Southern will finish up the regular season this Saturday as the Lions travel to Northwest Missouri for a 2:30 pm game in Maryville. Southern, already having clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament can place as high as four or as low as sixth.
